Shelter Development: "Incorporating Culture, Creating Policies Promoting Safety and Confidentiality"

NIWRC is excited to announce its first Peer-to-Peer learning opportunity modeled after the "workshop on wheels" concept. Through on-site technical assistance and experiential activities, participants will learn the ins and outs of providing tribal domestic violence shelter services, shadow shelter advocates, and participate in cultural activities with staff of the oldest shelter on tribal reservation lands.

Groups of two or more from each Tribal Nation, Indian community or Alaska Native Village, currently operating or planning to open a domestic/sexual violence shelter, are strongly encouraged to attend.

This learning opportunity through a peer-to-peer exchange is limited to 25 participants. The host site is the White Buffalo Calf Woman Society Shelter in Mission, South Dakota, home of the Sicangu Oyate.

Registration fee is $100.00. Fee waivers are available, apply when you register.
